Hey Bride,
I am doing well. Just hanging out at home. I took my big licsensure test on Friday, God was with me, I passed. I am super smart in school (3.9 GPA) but give me a timed test that will detrimine my future and man, anxiety city. Anyway, I was able to accept my job... I am going to be working for the university down here, doing therapy, helping the univ set up clinic and teaching a seminar to medical resident. (mmmm boys in scrubs, I can't touch but I can look!)
I think the job will be a lot of fun but a lot of hard work.
My boyfriend is out of town for the summer so I am bumming around. I haven't put makeup on in like 3 days which is a record for me...hahaha.
So tell me about your wedding, what kind of flower, how many bridesmaid, whats the cake look like, whats your dress look like, what do their dresses look like... I want to know!!!!!
Can't wait to hear from ya!
Lexy

Bride make sure at your wedding you take like 5 mins with your husband and just sit back and take it all in. It is amazing to have all of those people in one place that are there for you because they love you. It is easy to forget that with all the picture snapping and wedding hype that goes on...sit back, and take it all in because it goes way too fast!!!

Switching to Wellbtrin » mystic

In reply to RE:: Hey everyone, posted by mystic on June 18, 2004, at 19:24:31

Hi Mystic - I went to my dr. on Friday. I told him how foggy/tired I am and also about the weight gain. He is switching me to Wellbutrin which is supposed to be more "activating" & should help on both counts.

I'm taking 10mg of Lex every other day then every 3rd day for the next 10 days, while starting the Wellbutrin at about day 7 of this withdrawal period. I'm having some reactions to the lower dose in that I cried and yelled and fought with my husband a bit over the weekend - Yuck!! Like my old self! It makes me remember why I need to be on meds right now - ha!

Anyway, let me know what your doc says. I'm a little nervous about switching meds, but also eager to get rid of the fatigue because it's effecting my job and my safety (so tired when driving!!). I also had blood work done to be sure it's not anything else.

I hope you can find a good solution Mystic, you deserve to start feeling some improvement!!

Hey Everyone...Went to the drs yesterday and she is going to check with another dr about maybe switching to something else also..I hate to do that being med phobic and all but the lex just doesnt seem to be helping although it is only a week sunday that I have increased to 17.5 but my memory is horrible and that might go away but feel the weight starting to creep up also...Not sure of what they will do but will be interested to see how it goes.. .My dr is going to call on monday or tuesday and tell me what to do ..for now still taking the lex and hoping some miracle happens and I am fine by then but she was thinking of me going to go see a psychiatrist but with my experience they always want you to be on so many different meds or over medicate ...We will see..Hope you all have a great weekend...Your friend Mystic

Anakin - I hope you start feeling better soon! The whole situation is a blessing in disguise, you are right . . . wake up call and everything. I'm glad you had a good couple of days. Maybe when things have settled down you can get away somewhere for a long weekend to make up for it!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It was great..for the first two days..we ate like piggies and laid on the beach and enjoyed our pup. THEN there is always a THEN. I thought I was having a panic attack, but it was much different..I really thought it was a heart attack, except my only symptom was stabbing pain underneath my left breast that worsed when breathing deeply, so we jetted early this am and i went to an urgent care, I skipped the emergency room because I am still paying for the last time...It turned out to be in a prelim diagnosis...something called pleurisy (ploorisy??) where your lung wall gets inflammed and makes breathing difficult. It should go away in a few days, as should my smoking habit. It is kind of a wake up call, I guess. I basically feels like a cramp you get when you exercise too fast after eating just in a different place...

Great advice from Lexy, our newly licensed professional - you sound even more confident now :-) What great ideas for us all!!!

Mystic, if I can add one more thought playing off of Lexy's last 2 notes: Don't feel you have to delve into your past until you are ready. The meds are a good base to give you the strength to do it, but if you have not found the right med or med combo maybe you need to wait til your meds are on track ... just a thought!
~ Lynne
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hey Mystic,
> I hope today finds you feeling better. I won't even pretend I can understand your fear of facing your childhood memories. One thing you can do for yourself is write down the postives and what is going on when you are not feeling anxious. Dwell on those things and try to add on to them. Figure out your anxious thoughts, like many anxious or depressed thoughts begin with "What if" "Will I" and sometimes "Can I". I know when I was depressed it helped me a lot to isolate those thoughts and challange them, "If I go out with my friends will they know that I am a depressed mess?" "Will I start crying in a session with my new client?" I challaged those thoughts with real life experiences such as "Well, last time I went out with my friends, nothing bad happened" or "Last time I saw my client I helpped this person then felt better". Our brains work against us but the reality can help us. Just think, you had a painful childhood but you made it though, you helped your daughter have a safe happy childhood and now Ryan will have the same, all because you were strong enough to break the cycle. You are such a strong and wonderful person Mystic, try to dwell on your amazing strenght and will.
> Love you!!!
> Lexy
> PS. When I told my parents that I passed the test, they went to Louis Vuitton in Vegas so I am awaiting a wonderful package!!!

Lynne,

I switched from Lexapro to Wellbutrin, so let me know if I can help. My doctor had me stop taking Lexapro the day I started Wellbutrin, and I was on 20mg Lex at the time. The worst SE was insomnia (about 3 hours of sleep the first couple of nights), but that was about it. Good luck!

Simus,
Thanks for answering! Are you only on Wellbutrin now? What made you change and how are your symptoms on WB? How long have you been on it? My doc cautioned me not to take decongestants or drink a lot of coffee. Did you notice any increase ni blood pressure or even just palpitations? I started all this due to a diagnosis of PMDD (I'm 40 & perimenopausal) combined with some life changes that were increasing my depression and anxiety.

I'm expecting the insomnia and am armed with Melatonin! I'm also expecting some agitation/hyperness due to the "activating" effect of WB, and I can usually handle that sort of behavior pretty well. I have a few more days of the 10mg of Lex and by this weekend I can switch. I'm anxious to get started and see how the new med feels.

Thanks again for answering and sorry for so many questions, but this is once again new territory!

Hey yo-yo's,

How is everyone doing? Lexy I couldn't have said it better myself - you have such a way with words. Louis Vuitton huh - I just bought myself a new one on Saturday. I love the louie's...let me know what you get.

Mystic - how are you my friend? I hear ya about the weight gain, I put on about 5 myself but I wasn't eating that great or working out, so today my goal is to get back on weight watchers and work out at the gym. I hope you had a great day yesterday. Saturday night wasn't great for me, remember I told you that I wasn't feeling too well - well I felt a panic attack coming on in the restaurant...it wasn't a big one but just enough to make me feel like I couldn't wait to get out of there and I couldn't swallow a bit of food. My throat was closed up or something. I hate that. My husband and I finally get out without the kids and then that happens. It's just not fair but maybe I should have stayed home to begin with but I tried to fight it and make myself go out sick and all.

Oh well I am going to the doctor today because I think I need antibiotic. This is just not going away on its own.

Hey Mrs. C, how are you doing? I am sure you are glad that school is over and now you can relax a bit.

Love to all,
anxious babe

> Are you only on Wellbutrin now?

150mg Wellbutrin and 1mg Xanax

< What made you change

I couldn't handle the fatigue, mental fogginess, lack of concentration and poor memory from the Lexapro. The worst was the extreme fatigue. Nodding off at the wheel was just not acceptable to me.

> and how are your symptoms on WB?

I still have some insomnia a little short-term memory difficulty, but overall I feel much better.

> How long have you been on it?

I think I switched in February.

>My doc cautioned me not to take decongestants or drink a lot of coffee.

My doctor told me that it not only exaggerates the effects of caffeine, but the caffeine seems to stay in the system longer. A decongestant like Sudafed (because of the pseudoephedrine) could be a problem, but I take Benadryl and Claritin with no problem at all.

>Did you notice any increase ni blood pressure or even just palpitations?

My blood pressure always ran on the low side, so that wasn't a concern for me.

>I started all this due to a diagnosis of PMDD (I'm 40 & perimenopausal) combined with some life changes that were increasing my depression and anxiety.
>
> I'm expecting the insomnia and am armed with Melatonin!

Oh! I had bad experience with Melatonin, so unless you are familiar with it, don't start it after the Wellbutrin. I take Xanax, which helps some. But benedryl is probably or more help to me (I take 3 to sleep).

> I'm also expecting some agitation/hyperness due to the "activating" effect of WB, and I can usually handle that sort of behavior pretty well.

Again, avoid ANYTHING with a stimulant effect such as coffee, tea, chocolate, etc, especially for the first week.

>I have a few more days of the 10mg of Lex and by this weekend I can switch. I'm anxious to get started and see how the new med feels.
>
After the first week or so, I was fine. But the insomnia was pretty bad for about 2-3 days. Then I felt like I had about 1 cup of coffee too much for a few days. But now I am fine.

> Thanks again for answering and sorry for so many questions, but this is once again new territory!

Mrs. C,
I did not know you were from upstate NY. My mom grew up in Oswewigo (sp) up near Sayracuse. I have gone there many of time with she and her sisters so relive the "old days". My parents live in Las Vegas now so of course they have easy access. The first "real" one I got was on Sept. 11th. My parents were out of the country stuck in Korea where my dad was speaking, we were all freaking out so much, my parents ended up stranded for 10 days, my mom was panicing so he gave her a bunch of money and she went and bought me a backpack and wallet. Since then I have found a wonderful store right here in Jackson, Ms that sells really good fake ones (Louis, Chanel, Prada, Coach, Dior ect.) I have been wanting a little LV that has small label and looks like a little bitty suitcase...hard to explain, I hope it comes in the mail soon!!!
Shoes are my other weakness. I LOVE them!!!!!!

Hey Lexy, I live just west of Rochester NY. Beautiful area of the country and doesn't get enough credit for that. I love it here! Except the shopping sucks. It's very rural and the closest mall is over 30 minutes away. No Louis stores at all anywhere! My sister just got a beautiful Prada purse. It's so gorgeous. I put an order in today for one and a mini Louis to take on my casino trips. Another weakness...slot machines! Great to hear from you, Mrs. C

Hi there Mystic,

Sorry for my absence. I have been pretty busy lately - the weather has been perfect to get some yard work done, so I haven't written much.

I am sorry you are still struggling, but I am glad you talked to the doctor. I sure hope this new drug is what you need to get back to your normal self. The reason you might not have found any info on the drug on the computer is because the spelling is actually "Nortriptyline". Give that a shot on your search engine. And check it out on Babble search too.

Let us know how you are doing with it, Sweetie. If you are like me, you will sit and stare at the bottle for a few days before getting the courage to try it. But like I tell myself, the drug can't help just sitting in the bottle on my cupboard.

God bless,

Simus
