The latest book selected is The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway with a planned start date for discussion of August 8th.
Come visit the book club to discuss that book or to help in the selection of the next one.
Below are links to amazon if you want to order the book but this is an old book and should be easy to get at libraries, second hand shops etc.

Not this time Jane. I'd go to the ends of the earth for you of course, but read Hemingway? Surely that asks too much...

Aw come on Dinah. I want to see if all those feminist misgivings I had as a lowly college freshman but was afraid to express to the professor (tweed jacket, suede patches, the works) are still there. :)
No grades but watch that spelling and grammar of course just in case (hi Beardie!). How bad could it be?

Once I went on a date with a guy, and he asked me what books I liked, and I said I was reading a lot of feminist authors, and he said that Hemingway was a "masculinist" and that was like the male equivalent of feminist. I thought it was a dumb idea, and it irritated me.Not sure why I felt compelled to toss this in, but there you have it.

Once I went on a date with a guy (not the Hemingway guy), and he asked me what types of books I read, and by then I'd matured enough to know that the word "feminist" made guys on first dates uncomfortable, so I said I liked to read fiction by women authors. He said "you mean bodice rippers?" Boy, was I offended.
