Once I went on a date with a guy (not the Hemingway guy), and he asked me what types of books I read, and by then I'd matured enough to know that the word "feminist" made guys on first dates uncomfortable, so I said I liked to read fiction by women authors. He said "you mean bodice rippers?" Boy, was I offended.
