I can never get enough. I often need to add some food to my salt. My cooking is considerate and healthy though.
I never want fruit or cereal for breakfast because it is too early to have something sweet.
I constantly want to snack on something salty and I already have a horrible water retention problem.
This despairs me, it really does, along with my inability to resist cheese.
I can't lose weight like this.

Hi Sabrina,
Have you tried munching on pretzels when you get the salt craving? They are salty, but are low fat or fat free. Plus they have less salt than chips.
Cheese is a tough one. I love cheese, too. I feel like Wallace in Wallace and Grommit. I know that all the diets say to eat no more than a wedge the size of your thumb for one serving. Try cutting it into really small pieces and eating it with a toothpick. Like the samples they give out in grocery stores.
I crave salt when I have PMS. Potato chips and salted nuts are my downfall.
Hope I helped.

Do you smoke? For some reason, smokers tend to crave salt, rather than sweet. I don't know if it will help, but if you are a smoker you might try taking a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water, and seeing if that satisfies the craving.
And, for the cheese, buy yourself a scale, and think in terms of two ounces of cheese for a serving. Poet is right on about cutting it small, and maybe using toothpicks, but don't cut it TOO small, or you may feel unsatisfied by it.
Good luck...

Dear Poet and Racer
Thank you for your kind responses.
My cheese in-take is so minimal it would pass any 'weight watchers' etc type of diet. I guess I was whinging when I posted.
I forcebly do not allow myself to indulge.
Poet, I LOVE pretzels. I thought they were forbidden!
Racer, an interesting question that you asked about me being a smoker. I quit (for the third time) almost 3 months ago. I have no desire to resume smoking because of my love for my husband.
Yet, there has been little difference with my quitting and my salt, umm, 'issues'.
Again, I am so appreciative of your responses.
