Do you smoke? For some reason, smokers tend to crave salt, rather than sweet. I don't know if it will help, but if you are a smoker you might try taking a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water, and seeing if that satisfies the craving.

And, for the cheese, buy yourself a scale, and think in terms of two ounces of cheese for a serving. Poet is right on about cutting it small, and maybe using toothpicks, but don't cut it TOO small, or you may feel unsatisfied by it.
