Couldn't take the Nordic Naturals Fish Oil. First thought hair getting softer which makes no sense as it's dead. But after a month of one a day kept getting aggitated and I think it was the oil as didn't take yesterday and yesterday better. Hoping today follows suite. But I used to take all supplements no problems. Now B complex aggiates or did haven't tried in a while but take B6 l00-200mg a day. C 2000, magnesium citrate 600m and an algae form of magnesium, strotium, calcium , D for bones. Strange and yes should be on alternative but hoping others with same experiences share. Thanks Phillipa

In reply to fish oil I see not all can take it why is this?, posted by Phillipa on February 25, 2012, at 11:55:45
Some people do not metabolize fish oil properly, and one of the substances in it is transformed into a toxic substance rather than the desired beneficial substance. This has been seen in lyme disease and I'm sure that's not the only place it happens. You had/have lyme disease so it is a realistic consideration.
There are probably hundreds of possible explanations. None really matter except for interesting table talk. What really matters is....listen to what your body is telling you. I think it is too early yet to conclude your body is saying it doesn't want fish oil, but is probably saying you are taking too much too soon. You might want to consider taking 1/8th of the regular dose to start with and then build up slowly over weeks and months to find your best dose. That means liquid instead of capsules. Without trying ultra low doses, you will never know whether the problem was....wrong supplement...or...wrong dose. So it makes a lot of sense to try the dosing thing before doing anything else.

I've taken fish oil for over a year. i had the same bad reaction as you when i mixed B vitamins with it. i suggest you try fish oil away from all other supplement for a few days except vitamin e with actually boosts its effect.

I've been taking Nordic Natural's EPA formula, just one a day, andwhile I feel more positivemy sleep is like "old man" sleep: all broken. Does this go away? I suppose I could try taking half a capsule, though that seems messy and irritating! But I may give it a go

I tried Borage Oil shortly ago. At first I wasn't sure if it was helping. After a few days of taking 3000mg along with B6 400mg, Magnesium Citrate 400mg, bit of ginkgo biloba +pharma meds I began to feel extremely bland, and vision became very pale. I felt more like a zombie.
Is there some correlation? My meds are ritalin, valium, and sometimes gabapentin.
