Magnificant respone to SAMe..am I the only one?

I'm wondering if my great responce to SAMe indicates something about what my brain is in need of?

YES! Our brain needs nutrients! SAMe is involved in mitochondria - the powerhouses of the cells. SAM is a methyl donor. Interestingly, mitochondrial dysfunction is often found in a brain not working right.

I know some people will additionally add TMG (trimethylglycine) or DMG, and the addition of methylated folate (which is in Deplin) and methylated cobalamin. Our brain is a huge user of energy and nutrition. What's our body for if not to enhance the survival of our brain!

SAM-e worked very well for me when I had a situational depression (i.e. stress-related). I took some other supplements as well - TMG, fish oil, a good multi-nutritional supplement. Not everything works for everyone. At least there were no withdrawal symptoms when I stopped it as I had with several antidepressants - even though they had not worked for me they caused side-effects AND horrible withdrawal!

thanks, good link, I have low T4 and T3 but cytomel and synthroid has balanced both. I have a severe glutin alergy and wonder about leaky gut and malabsorbtion, I have chronic stress, all of wich the link talks about. I don't understand cortisol in relation to adrenal insuficentcy, does this condition cause to much or not enough cortisol? I should add unbiquatol to my vitimins, it has come up repetedly in my search for ways to help myself.

if you could explane cortisol to me that would be great if adreanal insuficency is suspected should I subliment with cortisol?

Personally, I would not augment cortisol even if blood testing showed me to be low - not unless it was life-threateningly severe, but that is me.

Usually, stress causes an increase in cortisol level. Cortisol protects us from deleterious effects of stress. Adrenal insufficiency means the adrenals are not producing enough cortisol and thus we have less protection. The theory about the stress-related adrenal insufficiency is that over years of excessive stress, our adrenals just no longer respond as they used to.

Your cortisol level can be tested both via saliva and via blood. As to what to do about it... I know there are dietary measures you can take - salt is involved (salt cravings can be a sign of adrenal fatigue) and relaxation techniques can help. There is a book on adrenal fatigue (probably many books on the topic).
