YES! Our brain needs nutrients! SAMe is involved in mitochondria - the powerhouses of the cells. SAM is a methyl donor. Interestingly, mitochondrial dysfunction is often found in a brain not working right.

I know some people will additionally add TMG (trimethylglycine) or DMG, and the addition of methylated folate (which is in Deplin) and methylated cobalamin. Our brain is a huge user of energy and nutrition. What's our body for if not to enhance the survival of our brain!

SAM-e worked very well for me when I had a situational depression (i.e. stress-related). I took some other supplements as well - TMG, fish oil, a good multi-nutritional supplement. Not everything works for everyone. At least there were no withdrawal symptoms when I stopped it as I had with several antidepressants - even though they had not worked for me they caused side-effects AND horrible withdrawal!
