I responded thoughtfully to several posts by a poster named apple, and also another one by banana.
I'm very disheartened to see that MY posts were removed from the forum. I haven't been uncivil. Why was I censored? My posts were removed and deleted.
But the back arrow has a few benefits.
From "apple" posted this am ca. 8am, EST.

Posts by blocked posters are removed without comment, per board policy.
Responses to blocked posters are also removed, per board policy based on precedent by Dr. Bob.
It is against the board policy here for anyone to post on behalf of a blocked poster, such as, for example, posting the contents of a post that has been removed.
Please follow board guidelines.

That's sad. I hate seeing thoughtful posts just disappear like that.
But it's a classic example of the problem. Crimes. Banishment. Yeah, I wonder why Babble is dying?
No personal offense meant Dinah...you're just following Bob's rules.

No, there's certainly nothing inherently wrong with that question.

I just thought of something what if you don't know a poster is blocked as you don't go to the board where they were blocked or were not on that thread seriously how do you know if someone is blocked? Love Phillipa

90% of the time, I don't know.About deleting posts, Psych Central has a system that states "post deleted by______". No reason is given and I've never seen anyone get their knickers bunched up over that message.

Doesn't Psych Central also have where the moderators can lock a thread too? That would prevent smothering fights turn into big explosions. Give everyone a chance to cool their britches.
I didn't see the thread that got deleted.
What I still don't understand on why threads are deleted that are started from blocked posters, but yet there post that was deemed uncivil and got them blocked in the first place still remains. I know Bob doesn't erase posts normally, but why do it in this case, which seems so less harmful than actually being uncivil. Isn't keeping those post on Babble uncivil in itself? I guess I could ask why all day long.

That's a disclaimer, so that everyone understands that this is speculation, and not a hard and fast answer. I'm not answering for Dr Bob, I'm only offering my speculation on the topic.
I think Dr Bob leaves those posts as precedent, as a way to illustrate the civility guidelines. If those posts are left up, people can read them and see examples of what sorts of posts are deemed uncivil under the guidelines. Some people learn better by example, and having examples available might be helpful for those people in learning the guidelines here.
Again, that's just a guess.
It seems to me there are good arguments on either side of the issue -- leaving them up as an example has certain benefits, removing them has certain benefits.
> I guess I could ask why all day long.
Well, you could ;-) Speaking for myself, as a deputy here, I will tell you that I thought a great deal before posting anything on this thread. I was afraid that I might make things worse by offering my speculation about this. In fact, my decision to post something was based on this last sentence, rather than the initial question. I won't speak for any other deputy, but speaking for myself as a deputy, I often want to offer answers, or speculation, or reassurance, or in some way reach out to others on this site when questions come up. I don't always know how to do so, and I regret that. Often, I feel very bad when I can't.
I try to do the best I can. I wish I could provide all the answers to all the questions that people ask, and obviously I can't. I wish that I could guarantee that Dr Bob would answer all the questions asked here, and I certainly can't do that, since I have no control over anyone else. I do try to do the best I can. I suspect that 10derHeart and Dinah would say the same -- that we all three try to do the best we can.
Peace.

If you leave posts up that were made by blocked posters, then the behavior of posting while blocked achieved the goal or intent. Leaving it up reinforces that one can indeed "get away with it" and post while blocked as long as one accepts the consequences of increased block length. That's my understanding based on what Dr. Bob has said about it of why he removes them without comment.

What you say about blocked people's posts makes some sense. Sometimes you have to tell me over and over until I get it. lol
The thing about asking forever, it was meant to be about Dr. Bob, I can ask all I want but it doesn't mean it will change or be answered. :-)
This is the end of the thread.
