Dr. Bob I didn't know I was doing anything wrong. I just wanted to help because when I was E-mailed by Lou he asked if any Psychbabblers needed a place to stay. Guess I should be more familiar with rules like this but I didn't know. Please forgive me I guess he just didn't want to read the Threads. I've never been blocked before so please give me just one change. Won't do it again since I now know it's not allowed. Sorry Dr. Bob. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi. I have no doubt that you were unaware of those rules; however, I believe that it was unfair for the blocked poster to place you in that position. The poster who asked you to post for him is well aware of Dr. Bob's policy regarding attempts to communicate on this board while blocked. Last year when he was blocked, he tried to use his wife to post messages for him, and Dr. Bob made his position on that matter very clear.

Sarah thanks for the information. I've only been coming here since I think Oct or Nov of last year. I didn't know that and If I did I wouldn't have done it. He just said "Jan are there any fellow psychbabblers in need of shelter. I can provide it." Me like a fool just said oh let me post a thread and ask. I just didn't realize I was being used. But then what else is new.It happens to me a lot as I'm a people pleaser. And I have always tried to help others. Well I've sure learned a lesson this time and it won't be repeated ever again. But I won't let this keep me from trying to help others on the board. My knowledge is limited so I always refer med questions to the med experts I know and only answer those I know or try and offer support to others. Sure hope Dr. Bob sees it that way. And right now I'm 6hours from home taking care of my daughter's animals while she's on vacation. Thank my friend, Fondly, Phillipa

OTOH, it wasn't like he was using Phillipa for personal gain or to convey through her his usual posts for clarification (or whatever he called it). He was just saying he could provide shelter for Babblers in need if she knew of any. I do think he went about it the wrong way though. He should offered his services through e-mail to Dr. Bob.

You didn't do anything wrong. You used basic common sense and acted out of compassion. Sometimes people get a bit obsessed with rules and lose touch with the larger context.
If enforcing a rule does more harm than good, then an exception must be made. In bureaucrat talk it's called a variance.

I wouldn't worry about it, Phillipa. 10derheart gave you a citizans "Please do not relay messages for blocked posters." and I confirmed it. That's a warning, or to put it more kindly as I would prefer under the circumstances, an explanation of the rules. And I don't believe you've been PBC'd such that you're up for a block unless of course you turn around and do the same thing.
As far as I can see, the matter has been taken care of. If Dr. Bob believes differently, of course, he can always say so.
Also, a lot of it is a matter of wording, so it wouldn't be my assumption that Lou meant to use you or get you in trouble unless he specifically told you to post a message for him. From what I read in your post, that's not exactly what he did. But I could of course be wrong.

Yeah, the actual wording made me hesitate too. I mean, it's not 100% clear if there's a difference in Dr. Bob's eyes between perhaps casually mentioning, "hey, I was talking to [Insert Name of Blocked Poster] and they said, or asked, or wondered, or told me they're doing well or......" and, saying something more like, "[Insert Name of Blocked Poster] wants to know/wants me to tell you/asks if anyone needs help...."To me, it's nearly impossible to cover every possible intention or situation. To me, there *would* be some differences. But, I thought it might be an impossibly fine line for poor Phillipa to walk, so I went with a "better safe than sorry" approach regarding Dr. Bob and/or the FAQ rule by posting as I did.
Then, of course in this case, the subject matter Lou spoke of turns everything on its head for me. Because of extraordinary circumstances, I would tend to want the rule bent into a pretzel shape. It's not easy, this deputy business, is it?
Maybe the very best thing would have been for Lou to email Dr. Bob and ask him to post his kind offer...? But there's always the time factor, and right now that would be critical for any potential Babbler who really did need a place to stay.

Thanks so much for all of your support. I'm home now and can post on this computer as at least I can see it. But Dinah you are right he didn't ask me to post that thread I just offered to. My thoughts were gee Lou is not such a bad guy he's opening up his house to those left without a place to stay. So I just jumped on social and posted that Thread wanted the news to get out. And it's all my fault for not reading all the rules. I learn something new everyday. I didn't answer any more E-mails from him and I'm not going to. Never heard of anything as awful as asking your wife to post for you. So I'm staying out of his life. I will review all of the home page and rules. That's where it came from isn't it? Hope you'll all forgive me. I feel awful. And sometimes I act before I think things out fully. Dr. Bob is you're reading this I repeat I'm sorry don't know what else to say.
