Is this supposed to be an on-line version of a real-world book club, where everyone reads the same book and discusses it for a week or month, the non real-time equivalent of a meeting?
Would it be appropriate for me to post a message asking for a suggestion for a book on a particular topic? For example, I'm interested in learning about sleep, how you can tell how much you need, what the quality is without going to a sleep lab etc. Where would be the right board to discuss that sort of thing.
Also, I'd be interested in an "advanced" forum on neurology and medications. The difference from PB would be that the focus would be on the research --both pure science and applied medication, about how things work for the sake of curiosity rather than simply for solving one's own problems.

Right. Feel free to take a look...

Hmm, good question. Right now, PBBC is focused on picking books to read, so maybe that would fit better at (the original) PB.

That idea's come up before, I'm just not sure it would be so easy to decide what went where. Which is the key, I think, to multiple boards...

> BobRight I was posting in response to other's points. I think it would be wrong to call the forum advanced. I've sort of come to think of the original PB as a forum to discuss different drugs, how they work, and how they might solve an individual babbler's illness.
I've come to feel that a thread about the PBS program on child development, or non-pathological brain research, discussions of somebody like Damasio, would be off topic. I think that they're related enough to be of interest to the psycho-babble community, but irrelevant to somebody who is trying to find the right drug to alleviate his/her pain.
It could be a good place for the intellectually curious but recovering to go. I would call it maybe Psycho-Babble-Science. Psycho-Babble-Psycho-Science or Psycho-Babble-Neuroscience.
