I've been on Nardil over 3 months. Only able to increase to 60 mg two weeks ago because of bad side effects.
I have a new side effect: during those "narcoleptic" moments I am so tired I close my eyes. Within a few seconds I have severe anxiety and shortness of breath that jolts me up and I have myoclonic jerks. Sometimes I jolt up and start crying because I'm so anxious. it's really strange.
Anyone else had this? I don't know what is going on.

I'm sorry that no one has answered you yet. I don't really have many words of wisdom on this one. But if it's causing shortness of breath you should tell your doctor. Hopefully these side effects are transient.

I don't know where all the nardil posters went...anyway, I'll see my doc. I think it might be time to give up on the nardil. Thanks for your note.

>Yes. I'm at work and have just fallen asleep several times and awoken with that jerking. I bet I look very strange. I do not get any anxiety though.
One thing I would say is that the side-effects do change with time. I am not as somnolent as I was before (but clearly it's not great).
However since Nardil's the only drug that has helped me, I am 100% willing to stick with it. I would never, ever give it up just because of these side-effects, I love it.
You could ask your doc about adding provigil. Apparently it's very effective at combating Nardil somnolence. Your PDoc might have to be rather progressive/adventurous to prescribe it though, since it's contraindicated.
HTH,
Pete

How long have you been on it, and at what dosage?

>I started taking more B6 and salt tablets and increased my water intake. The b6 is supposed to help with the myoclonic jerks and the salt tablets for hypotention. Although I still get somnelence of course, yesterday and today I haven't had one of those weird spells with it.
I'll ask my doctor about provigil, but I'm scared she will take me off nardil.
This is the end of the thread.
