I just wondered about this. It has some properties that increase dopamine and keep it at a level, like Ritilin would do. Yet it's more for depression, than concentration.

Well i dont know the exact pharmocology of it off hand other then it does affect dopamine,i can say it is a mild stimulant, which can anti depressant effects, and probuably concentration effects.
Ritalin however is also used in low doses as a anti depressant as well,so due the the differance in exact method of action youd prob want to try both ,and i dont mean togther.
Fyi google OLMIFON it is a stimulant, actualy closely related to modfanil, has been out on the marked outside the U.S for a LONG TIME used from everthing from depression,to adhd,to fatique, etc. Its legal at this time to posesses i checked on that....however its quietly in a clinical trial with the U.S and most believe if its approved it will take on a different trade name then olmifon of course,no longer be allowed to legally purchase into the country, and the price would change from the orignal olmifon being dirt cheap (30 bucks) to the U.S version costing over 200 dollers. If you want a good stimulant,i recomend at least reading on it,again google OLMIFON,wikipedia would be best.Good luck

They should state here two things i was amazed at,first how close it is to modfanil, second that a drug aleady out is the best we can get from the wood work of the U.S
fyi i along with others have used this med to stimulate our anti depressants to work.Enjoy the page.

Phillipa my answer would be bipolar is a new monster,we are learning as we go,i mean we went from simple bipolar to now, bipolar 1,bipolar 2,rapid cycle bipolar, maniac bipolar, etc
Point is we have no set guidelines, were all as good as are docs are. Some docs attack bipolar one way, others antother, for example some docs now, least in my area wont to actualy remove any anti depressants at all in the treatment of bipolar, others might include a mood stablizer while again others a anti psyhotic.
While its possable stimulants etc can help induce a maniac episode,we cant be sure,i mean the same as a stimulant med can induce maniac phase so can life situations,i swear in arguments i can go from normal to 2000 of rage just due to what a certain person would say, they knew the right buttons to press the boil my blood like poion in my viens.
I dont personaly agree with not using anti depressants in bipolar, yess we want to watch and manage the mania associated with it,but we cant forget part of bi polar along with the mania is also severe depression.
Lets not be afraid to treat symptoms.I personaly experianced a maniac phase in me iniatise due to a med,a argument with someone, and also nothing at all,i.e playing with dog, then sobbing, then anger at one two three people then im in full anger mode. Its quite a disorder.
This is the end of the thread.
