Too tired to give my full history..I was on Zoloft for years. I felt great if I did the right things. Actually, compared to now, I felt amazing most of the time. I stupidly got off Zoloft 2 years ago and 5 months later had a major major mixed episode that landed me in the hospital. In the past year I've been on 11 different medications. For 4 months last year I tried zoloft again. I ended up feeling ok once I dropped the klonopin. I look back and think that I felt better than I realized at the time. The thing is, I have not felt that great or stable on mood stabilizers or antidepressants since my little pandora's box has been opened.
Currently, I'm on lithium and Celexa. I was on Lamictal and have gone through severe fatigue and other issues since getting off. I have no problem staying on Lithium even though I have yet to feel very good on it. I just cut Celexa in half because I think it is not doing the trick for my depression and may be making some things worse.
So, I'm very interested in Parnate and Nardil. I'm wondering, do you guys have to watch what you eat and drink? Also, if I reacted well to one of these, would I be able to workout the way I used to? I'm already concerned about lithium keeping me from having the intense workouts I used to have.
I'm really just curious to hear overall experiences with these 2 medications. And, I'm wondering if anyone with bipolar is taking either of these.

Theres no easy answer, first off there are the WRITTEN rules,...then you have individual responses.
For example some indviduals become very sensative to it at the very start, having bp problems.
Some inviduals are able to add strong stumulants such as amphetamines to it,many as i cant.
So for the written rules, and as a starter in maois, yess you have to be awere, for instance i dodged a reaction with a drink my girl uses a lot which contains ginseng, always felt a headache when i drank it,then i stopped and the headaches stopped. Also if youre anything but a social drinker,as in alcholol i would not suggest a maoi as you cannot drink consintly on them, many like myself will get away with the occasional drink at a party, but you dont wanna push it.
Working,i am a mass lifter, and i find parnate haults my energy at times,BUT on the same note i found parnate and caffiene tablets gave me such gains i no longer needed long workouts,my muscles and strentgh shot up.
So in essence, you should follow the rules at start and wait till you get the feel of the med before you push any buttons, everyone reacts differently to the do`s and dont`s of the maoi rules.good luck/

parnate might help me maintain intensity while working out, but thats probably more of a psychological effect from being less depressed.
i am a bit conscious of what i eat, but alcohol isn't a problem.

Parnate made me strong like a bear and the energy of a tiger.
No med has ever given me such a feeling of strength and energy. I was able to do about 140 push ups in a row. Now I am only able to do about 70.
Parnate is one of the most promising medications I have ever tried out of the 25+ that I have been on for my seemingly impossible to cure treatment resistant depression + Social Anxiety.
It can work very quickly too. For me within the first dose I felt an effect I kid you not. Unlike many other meds. Your experience of course may vary. Insomnia could be a big problem while on it but a good sleep med may help to go along with it. For me it was almost a miracle med at times. Some have said that if you get an early boost along with early insomnia it could be a good sign that it's working for you in the way that it ''should''.
Deffinetly worth a shot unless it's not suitable for bi-polar?

Did you have strict dietary restrictions? Did the insomnia go away? I'm not crazy about sleep meds. Why are you not still taking it? Any other bad reactions?
I was on Zoloft alone for years. I think I can handle just about any antidepressant despite my bipolar. I'm a weird case. I have been destabilized by mood stabilizers as much as antidepressants.

Are you on parnate? Do you like it a lot or do you just think it's strong like a bear? Side effects? How long have you been taking it? Sorry I am curious to find out as much as I can about Parnate.
