Prozac (fluoxtine) at 80mg....compared to other..

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on February 19, 2009, at 12:38:36

Hello,

Prozac, i started it, and it worked after about 6-7 weeks. But it was worth the wait, because it did change the mind set out of what it was in.

But, i've taken it now for 2-3 years, i've heard in the past it's good for anxiety, and OCD. It doesnt work, with anxiety all with me.

First...Prozac is "the first" SSRI, correct me if i'm wrong, released 1987? It's effects are....not noticable, but you notice more of "life" feeling.

It also is stimulating in it's own way. It's not like Zoloft or Lexepro which are antidepressants, that are "anxiety, depression". Prozac i believe works, on 5htp2 receptors, serotonin, and to an extent Norepheniphrine, attention nuerotrasmitter. I also read Prozac, increases the effects of Psychostimulants, but i dont really notice that. The only notice, is "boosts" what ever stimulant (d-amphetamine), they both activate. But it doesnt "increase" really it's effects.

Also at 80mg.....would that make serotonin saturated, since it's at high dose.

Because, Serotonin and Dopamine together, if one is higher than the other, it's hard to describe. But equal serotonin and dopamine levels, do they cancel out, eachother.

One more note, just people "oursevles" have personalities, motivated "get it done" "success!" that more metaphorically saying that person has natrually higher dopamine levels. Some people are laid back...GABA nuerotransmitters, high levels. And serotonin, but serotonin has so many effects, it's hard to describe what the charasteric's of how it manifests it'self in behavior (living)

But, back to the point? I know there is information back all the from 2000-1999 on Psychobabble, looked up on search bar.

But any "indepth" thoughts about prozac. And also it's side effect's at night "eye dialition". It's embararassing! i have look down when talking because Fluoxtine causes this side effect. And, you talk about major dialation, people have asked me...are you ok? take something?
Yes- i take Prozac.

inputs?

Hi Scott

Listen, i've been on the search bar, which has "massive" posts from 1999-now. About Prozac.

Zoloft at a high dose causes Serotonin Saturation, which, means there is alot of serotonin in the synpase.

My question, Prozac is Serotonin reptake, but also it uptakes indirectly NE, which maybe why it's considered "stimulating". It's not a stimulant, it only effects a nuerotransmitter that is activating (Norephephrine)

Basically to get to the bottem...I take Dexedrine Spansules 4 15mg (2 at 9am) (2 at 3pm). Does prozac "blunt it's" effects by increasing serotonin levels, above dopamine levels?

Cancelling it out...basically.

That's a great question. I don't know the answer for sure. However, my guess is that the Dexedrine might enhance the overall effects of the Prozac. I don't think there is any "cancelling out". Fluoxetine, but not other selective serotonin uptake inhibitors, increases norepinephrine and dopamine extracellular levels in prefrontal cortex. It might have something to do with its ability to block 5-HT2c receptors.

thanks....

I'm researching right now on it, so i can know what exactly is going on.

Also, Dexedrine sometimes loses it's "focus", it's still stimulating, Math...problems it help.

But it loses effectiveness. Don't know why..

every 3 hours it releases 15mg. That's not a high dose, at all. But it's released through out the day....9am-12pm-3pm-6pm-9pm so it's 12 hours.
