I just left my Dr.'s office. He just prescribed Ritalin. I've tried Adderall, it gave me migraines. I've tried Focalyn, it made me rage. I've tried Stratterra it didn't do much. NOw he told me to take the Ritalin with Abilify to reduce the anxiety that Ritalin may cause. Abilify is for bipolar in which he said I'm not. I am running out of options here for ADD meds. Someone told me about Vyvanse. Think it could be a good option?

Ritalin and Focalin are very, very similar.
Are you saying that your doctor has prescribed an anti-psychotic drug (Abilify) for the sole reason of reducing the side effects of taking Ritalin? I am not at all convinced that that is sensible. Antipsychotics have many side effects of their own and should only be taken if clearly necessary eg. for schizophrenia or acute mania.

This is the impression that I got from him. He told me that he knew that I was NOT bipolar. So I have been trying to call him since yesterday.

To be absolutely honest, it sounds like ADD meds may not be very helpful for you. You have tried amphetamine (Adderall) and dex-methylphenidate (Focalin) and they have caused side effects. Most of the other ADD meds are modifications of the above. Controlld-release formulations such as Concerta may sometimes cause fewer side effects but are generally expensive. Perhaps you would be helped more by a psychological treatment strategy? Alternatively, you could consider desipramine (Norpramin), a tricyclic antidepressant which has also proved useful in some cases of ADHD. Desipramine is a useful drug but you will never see it advertised - it is a very old medication.

I have been on Disepramine, and Imipramine at some point in my life. The Psychotherapist I was seeing terminated with me because she thought it might be chemical. This is when I went for medicinal management
