Im talking about MRI's / CAT'S / PET / SPECT / EEG / what ever else is out there i want to know it all!
I want to have a scan from each one, but thats a bit finicial out for now, but what should i start with to find out if there is something seriously wrong.
I belive sometimes i have only delirium / derealization states, i will go into a complete state of euphoria, think of crazy stories usally less than 3 min, to just entertain myself during a period of time, adding to the crazyness to increase the euphoria, yes yes! superstimulation! then i begin to comepletely panic that i am insane, this is not suppost to be happening!! no no !!
Sorry, im in one of these states right now, i typed that paragraph so fast forgot what i put.
I worry alot psychotic individuels do this, (delusions, yea) and i need to get this checked out.
When i took prescription amphetmaine, i did not at all experience this, it was usally a structured feeling of calm, even at high doses, my personality seemed very mellow, i didnt feel the need to be provacative to get stimulation.
WHOOO, i need to calm it down! i am on a neuro coaster right now, I FEEL so great i can do anything! i need to take some ativan.
LATER!!!

> Hi, I don't know your history....diagnoses etc...but from your desciption of things, it sounds like it fits in a senario of the "bi-Polar" spectrum --hypo-mania & some ADD/ADHD and maybe some cycling. can you give us all some info so we can try to help you out?

Hey! As embedded as the notion is that "mental illness is a brain disease," the idea is actually relatively new (became firmly entrenched in the 1970's), and, unfortunately, not yet proven. Its a cool hypothesis, but it isn't yet established as FACT that the mentally ill have physical abnormalities in their brains. Some studies have suggested abnormalities, especially in schizophrenia and bipolar, but most of these studies also found that the "normal" control group sometimes had similar abnormalities and that many in the "sick" group did not, so the observations are more or less...useless. Factor in the usually small sample size, lack of a truly RANDOM sample (this is oh-so important), and the fact that some brain "abnormalities" are caused by long-term exposure to psychiatric drugs, especially the neuroleptics, and you can see why these studies aren't terribly helpful. Sooo..basically, if you get a brain scan of any sort, you may come back normal, or abnormal. Even if your brain scan comes back abnormal, this can't really help make a diagnosis, since we don't understand very much about the brain...especially when looking at relatively subtle "abnormalities". Brain scans are best used to look for MAJOR problems, like tumors/abnormal growths, heavy brain damage, etc. Your "issues" do sound like the bi-polar diagnosis BUT..I'm also concerned that maybe you monitor your mind too much. Having odd thoughts doesn't make one "crazy," but constantly monitoring yourself for "craziness" and freaking yourself out will, I think, stress you out and make you "crazy," if only because you'll constantly be searching for a diagnosis to explain your "odd" thoughts. Here's the deal: "weird" thoughts aren't "insanity," or "psychosis". They can be fun, entertaining, and sometimes even enlightening, both for yourself and others (trust me, I'm the king of "weird" thoughts). Usually, when people talk about the "insane," they're talking about those whose mental illness is severe and involves straight up hallucinations. If, on a regular basis, you hear voices that others don't, see things that others don't, or (rarely) have physical sensations (bugs crawling on your skin, for instance) without a reasonable cause, you may a reason to be concerned. If you have "odd" thoughts that alter your sense of what is "real" to the point that you are unable to function reasonably well in everyday life, you may have a problem. If you have both of these "issues," you may very well have a problem. Lacking that, I'd recommend that you try chilling out, letting your mind run wild, and seeing what happens. I'd also recommend that you, while you relax and just let your mind do its thing, you also just relax and see if your mood changes seem to cause any undo impairment in your day-to-day life. If they do, you may want to seek some sort of assistance. If not, relax some more.

The funny thing is, "crazy' people do not think they are crazy they think we are the crazy. Even a person in a true mania will blame everyone else, and do things that are irrational and delusional. For instance spend lots of money they don't have, call people they haven't spoken with for years, have promiscuous sex. They can have delusions that they are someone very famous or even God. The TV is talking, they are angels, etc. You don't sound like you are experiencing anything like this are you? If you are, you need to call someone responsible, and go to the Hospital so they can take proper care of you and help you to organize your thoughts, and keep you from harm. Remember, we care. Fondly, Phillipa

You still could be manic, even though are not hearing voices or thinking you can fly, etc.
I am a diagnosed BP II, and it really sounds like you're experiencing mania. My mania was just thinking really fast, talking fast, doing things fast, feeling great and sometimes having those thoughts that maybe I'm insane (well, I had those during depressions as well). I never heard voices, or had delusions. Some BPs do experience that, although those symptoms can be seen more in a BP I diagnosis. But no one on here can say for sure what you're experiencing - you need to see your doctor. I know you feel "great" right now, but it will also leave you feel horrible.
Have you felt like this before?

Hi:
A "Most' reliable dx is you need to speak out your problems as detail as possible. The reason why some of pdocs. not able to dx properly is said to be some of M.I. folks are VERY hesitatnt to talk about his/her mental-problems precisely. If you are 'unable' to remember/recall every detail in your activities and actions, then 'write down' like a dairy. That is the most easy and reliable source for a psychiatrist to dx and rx appropriately. In my knowledge through the experience, ... those 'machines,' 'EEG' and others are NOT as effective as written statement on your daily activities. Besides this, most of pdocs. even do NOT look at those 'tests' performed beforehand without his/her advice and recommendation. Some of pdocs. actually send his/her ppl to those facilities over his/her ppl's concern, but most cases are ended up nothing wrong with, ... just 'chimical imbalance' which requires psycho. meds.
H.G.

That day i calmed down eventually, bit man that was true "run", i have alot of explain about these symotoms
Suddenly i will be in a phase, sort of delirum state, i have a fear that im on the vurge of thinking people on Television are talking to me, i will start to see things fun, a rush of ideas of what horrible things could go wrong with my mind, like im slowly deterioating (nueron-wise), and this could get to my head and actually happen!!!, i will lose my cognitive abilies, my whole perception of reality, which i think is happening right now which is why im panic!!!
, but that what ever stimulation phase it calmed down in about a couple hours, it was better than any kind of stimulant, but i had trouble focusing on what im doing, so many ideas for me to conquer i had to do it all! I did have sort of "semi-delsusions" as if i imagined i was a conquerer, and felt power from simulating it. But i got really unstable last night after it was over thinking again negitive thoughts there's something wrong with my mind, there is abnormality, and im going to drift in to oblivion!! insanity!!! no! i dont want it to happen!
those rope briges (like indiana jones movies) and im walking across feeling it rock back and forth, praying that it will stay stable, this is almost everyday, fearing that i will start having misperceptions, this is why i constanly moniter myself, god, like i have to have security camereas everywhere inside to make sure im ok, i never have a feeling of complete mental stableness. When the brige flips, i will experience disconnection from reality, and have misperceptions nad go delirious. But its almost as if i plan disaster, why would i do this! dumbass!
I wish i had a complete knowing that im ok, i have no problems, i want all this to go away!!! i want relief, i want calmness, i want some sanity!!!
I make people irrtible talking about this, my psychologsit, my mom, so i will go on no more,
Can a SPECT scan be beneficial at all, i hear it is not used much, but i dont know if it can be effective for BI-POL, psyhotic readings,
Will Zyrexa be beneficial, Thorazine, i hate to put a plug on it but its got to stop until i know what to do.
God bless, and you stay well.
M
