hello there, chemist here....pindolol is a beta blocker and is currently used (off-label) to augment ssris, among other things....we are talking way different mechanisms of action, although i have not seen any lit. in re: wellbutrin and this drug........all the best, chemist

Hi chemist.I think it is the 5-HT alpha-1 antagonist properties of pindolol that are thought to facilitate whatever adjunctive value it might have.
The way I read the early literature regarding pindolol was that it didn't so much augment the antidepressant response as it did produce an improvement earlier in treatment. They used the term "hasten the reponse".

Thats right pindolol is a 5ht1a presynaptic autoreceptor antagonist.
