A novel treatment for OCD is Zyprexa, which has an effect on serotonin.

Also, there is a little evidence to support the use of bromocriptine and pindolol for OCD.

Have you tried Effexor? Remeron?

I was wondering if you could give me any insite. I was taking 40 mg paxil for depression and OCD when depression occurs. I recently ( gradually inscreased for 4 weeks) switched to Prozac 40 mg. How long could it take for me to feel results for my OCD. THe depression is better but not the OCD. This week I was also prescribed Buspar. Everyone who posts seems to have more knowledge than the doctors I go to. Thank you for you help with this.
Looking forward to getting better

Hi.

You may want to look into Luvox (fluvoxamine), an SSRI. Its official indication is for OCD, but it is also an effective antidepressant. Perhaps this one drug would optimize your regimen. If the OCD is adequately addressed by Luvox, but depression remains, you have a plethora of alternatives to augment it with other drugs. Serzone comes to mind based upon some people's experience here.

Good luck.

Anafranil / clomipramine is the only tricyclic that I know of that is specifically designated for OCD. I would guess that is the tricyclic which your doctor tried you on first.

Thanks,
I have been on the prozac a total of four weeks. At 40 mg for only a week and a few days. Do I need to give it more time. I have not seen any improvement in the OCD. I just don't want these thoughts anymore. The paxil worked great but I gained too much weight. Thinking about switching back to it.
