Hello
well I am new to the board
first post
my problem is I suffer from obsessive compulsive
disorder - major depression and very bad anxiety- this
is my diagnosis
I am disabled
25 years old and have been having serious problems for
six years -
I have tried at least 20 different meds ( no exaggeration)
with no relief
well I believe that bipolar disorder is acually my
problem specifically bipolar 2 acually I am positive of
it -
I am looking for someone with this disorder to help me
out - I have done research but there is a difference
between researching and talking to a person so what I
am looking for is someone who knows about this illness
who I can talk with about med issues and other coping
strategies
so if anyone would like to leave me their email address
it would be great -
thank you

by blood sweat and tears - who at best knows the
triumphs of high achievement- and who at worst - if he
fails at least fails while daring greatly so that his
place is never with those cold timid souls who know
neither victory nor defeat."

Hi Ric,
What are the 20 drugs you've tried? How about making a list? And with each drug, write a short sentence describing the results or why it was discontinued. This might help some of the regulars here get a handle on your situation and possibly make good suggestions that haven't yet been considered.
Thanks!
John

Before you give up on medical treatment, there is hope for you in newer medications and newer combinations. I found relief in a very new drug called Mirapex. Here are some more options that you may not have thought of:
Provigil - a stimulant that is possibly effective
Irreversable MAOIs - Phenelzine, Tranylcypromine. Extremely Effective.
MAOI-B - Selegiline, an antidepressant almost comparable to Phenelzine.
Nefazodone - great for sleep; no sexual dysfunction; no anticholinergics side-effects.
Lamotrigine - good side-effect profile; most antidepressant properties
Carbamazepine - less side effects than Lithium or divalproex sodium
Topiramate - the newest mood-stabilizer; it promotes weight loss
Desipramine - the least side-effects of all the Tricyclics; one of the SNRIs
High-dose Venlafaxine - at higher doses Venlafaxine affects more chemicals than SSRIs.
Buspirone - an effective antidepressant and anxiolytic at high doses.
Dopamine Agonists - Pramipexole has two studies on it (I take it).
"Power Combinations" - Remeron+Effexor; Wellbutrin+Remeron, RemeronProzac
Augmentation of anything you have tried before with Lithium, Pindolol, or Buspar (i took pindolol
Foreign medications to the US: the RIMA Moclobemide; Reboxetine; Amisulpride, etc
Atypical Neuroleptics/Antipsychotics with antidepressant properties: Risperidone, Olanzapine, Seroquel
I hope that gives you hope!
This is the end of the thread.
