In reply to ZOLOFT + PROVIGIL...Depression getting worse..., posted by alexxf on July 20, 2007, at 12:11:58
I've taken Provigil on and off (mostly on) for over 5 yrs. My only health complaint was fatigue.
I researched Provigil yrs back- someplace I read and wrote down that Provigil can interact with Celexa (similar to Lexapro) - maybe decrease the wakefulness properties.Perhaps the same is true with zoloft (being an SSRI).
I never knew what anxiety was- until I started Provigil. So maybe the Provigil is causing the anxiety. Headache and anxiety are stated on the patient info sheet to be clearly related to dose.
I got both of these side effects from Provigil. On 100 mgs. and now at 4-600mgs. (Insane! I know)
Provigil abusers claim to be a big euphori from massive doses... but from the start I knew Provigil never helped mood...I almost feel like it overstimulates my brain and not my body.
It is a Controlled substance and I have learned the hard way that tolerance develops.
Another thought- my sister got shakey on zoloft; maybe cuz it affects dopamine a little.
I'm on zoloft (10 mg) and have been for a little over 2 months now, i keep trying to give it time to REALLY kick in, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect on me as it used to (years ago). (I went off it while i was pregnant then i was on lexapro). And now I've been taking provigil to help with the fatigue and just to help me be more alert during the day...But i feel like it REALLY just killed the zoloft. My anxiety is up, my mood swings are back, and i've been feeling more depressed. A pharmicist says it shouldn't be the mix of the 2 drugs doing this? Do i need something stronger for the depression and anxiety? Any suggestions?
