so this guy (a psychiatry guy) says to the NY times about how the US (I suppose) has invested, i don't know, billions of dollars into biological research on mental illness (neurobiology, genetics etc) really without very much to show for it. that they would basically look at more and more and more and more and more and more data for what was obviously less and less and less and less and less of a difference maker or a robust finding.

but what he didn't say... was that we knew it was likely to be a dead-end or not very productive BEFORE we invested that money into it. we made the executive decision to do that.

why?

why on earth would we not want to make progress on mental health stuff?

why?
