They are difficult - I still sob at times. Nothing is all rosey and perfect. Distance helps so much; a well suited environment, understanding company. I become upset with every email from the lawyer or my spouse (why he sends legal documents to me is a calculated, cruel error). I am much more triggered having seen him interact with his immediate family members. I fully know what to expect.

But I am far away. Starting a new life. Taking these lessons and integrating them. None of us are perfect (me at the very least) and I am grateful to be going ahead.

It helps a great deal to be angry at how I was treated. No one, not a single person, deserves the manipulation and subtle cruelty I was subject to. I don't care how he was raised; he always had the ability to change his behaviour at any time, and chose not to, because it didn't serve him well.
