I am reminded of a William Blake poem. About how pity would no longer be if all were something? as we. How people would no longer be poor if we did not make somebody poor...
It is basically about how a lot of the evils in the world are because of our actions / attitudes.
Christmas is only truly horrible for some people because other people make such a big deal of it. If people didn't make such a big deal of it / were more respectful of others not making a big deal of it... Then those of us who want to could go shopping as usual or eat out as usual or take a walk as usual or whatever as usual... And not be stared at and pitied.
