If the dsm/icd are so good and pdocs(in their own minds) are so God like how come they can find it hard to agree on a diagnosis/keep changing diagnoses over the years?
Over 39 years i have been variously diagnosed officially(sz ,sz with disorder of gender identity,sz with personality disorder,schizoaffective mixed type, personality disorder nos, and paranoid personality disorder and mentioned in my notes-bipolar,dependent,narcissistic.Truth is if there was a diagnostic bible for physical illnesses that resulted in doctors not only often disagreeing about diagnosis but regularly changing diagnoses,as often as can happen in psychiatry, then serious questions would be asked as to the competency of the doctors and the tools they use to arrive at a diagnosis.
Yet inside there is this perpetual nagging doubt;
the feeling we are possessed by a 'subtle lack of togetherness'
