I, myself, have tried, and continue to try, to set up some sort of art therapy in the city I live in to run on a non-profit basis. When I lived in London, Ontario they had a place called the CITY ART CENTRE where adults with mental health issues could go and do artwork. It was completely free and non-profit. They had funding for supplies and so on, and they had voluntary staff to watch over the place and be the Board.
I love art and do it as therapy for both my mental health issues and my physical issues. I have art therapy books, study psychology and similar topics at home - I'm not able to attend school full-time. I do art daily as a part of my coping experience. I write poetry, having over 800 poems and I also journal. I have an Affirmation-writing booklet I made, a Creative Writing Course I came up with and so on. I love coming up with new ideas to share with people.
An art therapy site/thread would be a great idea and if you are looking for help/assistance, I'd be glad to lend my hand however I can.
Best wishes on seeing your dream fulfilled.Sheri
