I think I have an educational plan!

Posted by Christ_empowered on April 3, 2011, at 4:34:26

So, I was thinking about going to school online for a health informatics degree. The problem, of course, is that I don't know anything about health informatics and the program (even at the undergraduate level) kind of has a steep learning curve; most of the students are already in health care professions and/or have an associates in the field.

Here's my new plan (please critique as you see fit, I have to run it by my parents soon): get a fun degree ("General studies") through a state school (its offered online, but still...it looks FUN!) and then get a 1-year post-baccalaureate certificate in health informatics.

The "fun degree" is from a respected state school and would involve lots of liberal arts and I could choose to have a concentration in business, which I think means 8-12 hours of business classes. The cost of the "fun degree" +the cost of the post-bachelors certificate is about the same as getting the health informatics degree.

I have credits from my college days of yesteryear, but I'm thinking I just want to start over. No sense in getting credit for English 101 if I can't even remember APA format.

What do you guys think?
