she really helped me survive a pretty awful home environment
she was 11 when I was born and I get the sense that she did a lot of the mothering. I had a bit of a scary birth, my mother had a placental abruption. My mother didn't know it, but she was bleeding...my mother did not seem appropriately concerned. My sister told me about how she had to tell my mother to go to the hospital. I think I believe it, I don't want to believe it, but I do. My sister is extremely kind, and we both had a pretty unkind upbringing. My brother is pretty amazing too. He is very smart and he can express some affection. He's not perfect, but so what. My sister isn't perfect either, she can be quite fragile and get really hurt.
I have to warn people sometimes about my brother, about how he comes off sarcastic and dry, but how he's really pretty sensitive. So they shouldn't come back with really harsh comebacks, because he doesn't really mean any harm, it's just who he is.I really do like them both sincerely as people, even if they weren't my siblings. Since they are my brother and sister I look at them with amazement, because they know a bit about what I've been through....sometimes we tell war stories. It's nuts.
