Hi Phillipa,

I work with 5 pound weights, but do long reps while maintaining proper form to avoid injury.
I don't know how strong you are, but 10 pound weights are heavy, so I would start slow and build on
reps as you get stronger. Do you have any videos that's specific to weight training to help you with
form and technique? A trainer or a class would be ideal, but can be expensive and inconvenient -
(depending on your lifestyle)...a good video will do.

What works for my arms are good old push-ups done with variations of hand/arm placements under-
neath the body. You really see results fast with pushups, but be careful not to overdue and listen
to your body...if it hurts, stop and check your form to make sure you're not injuring yourself.

Have you ever tried yoga or pilates? Pilates is especially great for toning/tightening not just the upper,
but the whole body...if I had to do one type of workout, I would do pilates as it's very effective, and
gets results quickly. Yoga is great, too, especially for the mind - very centering and healing.

It's wonderful that you're motivated to take care of your body, Phillpa! But, don't focus on quick
results as much as gradual strength build-up while you ENJOY the workouts...you'll only do
it consistently if it's fun. The only way to maintain the results is to incorporate a fun exercise
routine into your lifestyle...walking, tennis, swimming, etc...whatever you like. Working out your
fingers on the computer while on babble or surfing the net doesn't count though...I'm definitely
guilty of this!

Well, Phillipa, you've got me motivated now! I'm going to give my poor dogs a break from
watching me click away on the computer and take them for a nice walk!

I think I heard my dogs say,"Thank you, Phillipa!" :)

Good luck with it!

Ava -
