> i wanted to share ideas and thoughts about how others deal with the hostility of strangers you may meet on the street if you have a mental health problem. i thought moving from a town to a city might make things easier and it probably does but in recent years i found that people can be hostile although in a mild way towards me because i feel i exhibit mental health problems. a large part of the problem is that i have social phobia and always have had and i cant shake off what people may think of me. it really bothers me and makes it harder for me to go out. the kind of hostility im talking about is pretty mild like people humming and sighing in a fed up sort of way but occassionaly more. anyway your thoughts would be appreciated especially on things which lessen the problem. One thing that has helped me is to think of what other people say or do as being their problem, and not mine. That is, they might sigh or roll their eyes at me or what they see me doing, but what they are exhibiting is their OWN problem, and they're the ones who have to Get Over It. It does help me to remind myself that I can only be minding my own business, and not somebody else's.
