Yeah, I hugged what I call my "domestic mob" as well.
I've been around animals all of my life. I was raised on a farm, ride horses, and spend a large chunk of time involved in animal rescue.
Some animals when they pass, it's like a thunderclap - their absence and the vacuum it creates.
When the little ones go, it's much quieter. They touch us in such a subtle and gentle way.
The loss is as acute, just not as loud.
