> well it's 22c(72f) in the middle of winter for today and tomorrow, and I live in the cold part of Australia. What going on in Melbourne it's just plain weird. Would that ever happen in DC or NY during Feb, I live at the same latitude?

Further north, we've had 20 C (68 F) in Ontario, in February. That's a continental climate. There's a wind-driven warming effect from Chinook winds on the eastern face of the mountains, out west, that can raise the temp by 30 or even 40 C in a matter of hours (often hitting the 20s), but that's cheating. ;-)

I checked the temp records for Cental Park in NYC, and there have been a number of records in the 70s F, in February. Strange and rare, no doubt.
