There's definitely a distinction between transgender identification and homosexuality. A significant percentage of people, especially men, who seek gender reassignment are straight and, indeed, become gay or lesbian only by virtue of changing gender. Being dressed and treated as a girl by your mother may have influenced many aspects of your personality, but it likely had nothing to do with your being attracted to men.
