Well, I know the damage storms can leave, and I am saddened by it.

But I love storms themselves for the same reason I love mountains. As a reminder of how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things. Maybe that shouldn't make me feel exalted, but oddly it does.

Daddy brought me to the levee shortly before a small hurricane hit once. I'd never do that to my child, but I'm glad he did it with me. It was awe inspiring.

I also remember the spooky green thunderstorms that sent shivers up my spine.

But my heart goes out to those whose lives were hurt by nature's manifestations.
