Um, I am really bad at identifying butterflies! They weren't monarchs. Some were black with yellow edges, some were pale orange, and there were so many of them!
Butterfly gardens are very popular here. People cultivate particlar plants that attract them. My garden, on the other hand, consists of cactii and edible herbs. My goal this summer will be to not have too many of them expire from my neglect. I'm using it as a measure of my ability to nurture.
