Dip that needs refrigerating but didn't get it

If I left a dip on the counter overnight, that says 'keep refrigerated' and forgot about it til the next afternoon then refrigerated it for a few days, can I serve it to guests? ;)
Actually I just want to know if I can eat it, or will something bad happen to me ;) and Im really hungry!
