Well I'm in the same boat trying to build a support system. The only thing I know to do is get out and try to meet people.

Church is usually the first thing recommended in meeting new like minded people. Volunteer work is also a good one. And there's a site called meetup.com. Its a place that people can look for others in their community with common interests and set up group meetings. I've gone to a couple, and it was really cool. I think they may charge a membership fee now to use the site, but I don't think its very much.

Going to a therapist is also a way of getting support. They may not be your personal friends or anything, but just having someone to talk to who can give you good advice can be a big relief.
