Hi Lynn,I admire you for what you do, I couldn't do it. Teachers take over so much responsibility now, it's really sad.
Our son had/has awesome teachers except pre-school and 1st grade. It's actually school policy to 1st take away recess, then lunch, it stinks - you're right the kids need that time.
We have a lot of kids with bad homes in our school, and I think school is an escape for them, but you can see the hurt when they're put through even more when someone isn't fair with them. I've seen some ppl at school play favorites, I hate that. Granted some kids are difficult, but usually there's a reason.
Our lunch room monitors look for problems. What is that a power thing or something? Most are good though, and some have bad days.
You sound like a wonderful teacher. Your kids are lucky. what grade?
