So you have all yours safe with you there? How are they doing? It must be tough in close quarters...? Unless you have them in a kennel or something? Are people there offering to *foster* dogs/cats in their homes for a while? Seems like that might be of some help.
I feel exactly as you do, Dinah. My cat is the closest living soul to me on this earth. I can't bear to think of leaving him alone under such circumstances.
Some folks, particularly the elderly with older pets that have been with them for years, seemed to have stayed in their homes, despite everything, because their animals were afraid of the water, or sick,etc. It may not make sense to some, but I probably would have done the same rather than leave the animal.
