Of course you can do it! You're going to be wonderful.
I'm very excited for you.
Not kooky at all about the feeling important...after many years in the USAF, and all kinds of supplies and computers (and people..!) given to me to be responsible for...I still always felt sort of special and important and good about myself (that's a good thing!!) when I got new keys, office "stuff," permission to do things, and people to train. You sound quite sane about it all :-)
Too bad I'm not your boss/supervisor/trainer/mentor.
I've been known to be nice, funny, kind, forgiving and a da*n good trainer!
'course to get all that you must put up with quirky, forgetful, talks too much, needs you to keep me straight, and small absences from the office for T. appts., of course! :-)
(pssst...when you work for me, it's even okay to rant sometimes, away from the public..AND to {gasp} cry at work)Just try to keep in mind mistakes are EXPECTED from new folks and perfection is NOT the goal! Be who you are here and people will respond well. Those who don't....well, remember they are all carrying their own "stuff" around and it's likely NOT about you....
Hope your boss and co-workers are good ones...keep us posted.
