we've actually gotten down to gift cards to the gaming stores... We tell him the same kind of thing... this is how much you got from me, this is how much you got from dad... you can spend it or wait to see what you get from Uncles, or Aunts, cousins, et cetera or you can blow what you have now... choice is yours...
Been that way for about three years and he ALWAYS blows them before waiting for all of his gifts- he would have been able to get a new system twice and still hasn't learned the lesson yet...We point it out after the fact, but we can't learn it for him!!!
Gee, wonder where he gets his impulsivity from... I learned that lesson from my ex -husband who put me tens of thousands of dollars in debt from HIS impulsive spending. That's where he gets the "hole in the pocket syndrome" from...
And I am still in debt. Just gotta love PA where in divorce the debt is split 50/50 no matter who signed the charge slips...
