I used to have 2 border collies.
Chloe and Blake (after William Blake one of my favourite poets).
Chloe was most special to me.
She used to jump all over me when I was eating because (and this took a while to work out) she was trying to chase the reflections on the wall behind me that my knife and fork were making.
She used to spend her day pouncing on shaddows.
She'd go out by a tree and when a shaddow moved she would jump on it and squeal.
She was a very manic and anxious dog.
Was bred to heard sheep
So she was go go go all day.
She wasn't so very cuddly.
Mostly she would hate it if I picked her up and hugged her or if I made her lie down so I could pat her because she wanted to run run run.
She adored chasing a tennis ball and catching a frisbee.
She would literally run till she dropped with exhaustion.
I would have to make her rest
And make her drink.

I got worried about her nervous habits and we took her to a dog psychologist.
She said that she needed to be physically and mentally active.
We got 'brain teaser' puzzles for her.
Like this cube that you had to flip over to get food from.
And this long cylander thing to lick vegemite out of.

She learned about 150 distinct words.
Loved agility
And was an absolute terror at dog obedience.
She knew what she was SUPPOSED to do but...
I would say 'stay' and walk away and she used to creep along behind me slinking with her tail beneath her legs. She knew she wasn't supposed to but she hated to leave my side when other people / dogs were around.
She was a fear biter.

She would get cuddlier at night.
Come up for her evening cuddle.
She loved her tummy being rubbed.
And being scratched behind the ears.
She would lick my face
And I didn't mind.

She would be getting on now.
I gave her to someone who will be spoiling her rotton.
Who has 2 fenced acres in the country.
I bet she just runs around there all day.
I miss her.

And that was a ramble...
Sorry.
