I kind of know what you mean about standing out. Whenever I hop the train to the Jersey 'burbs to visit the sibs and/or my mom for a holiday like Christmas, I come lumbering in wearing my battered motorcycle jacket, Harley boots, jeans and a punk t-shirt, with my hair spiked up as usual. I look like a little bit of the Village transported to the land of McMansions. Everyone else in my family is into the Thurston Howell III prep look, and asks what I wear to work. Truth is, unless I'm going to be out and about in public working a media event for the university, pretty much the same thing. They're all lawyers, and can't fathom this. But I always deflect it with humor if possible, commenting on how at least one of us found a career where he/she didn't have to dress so funny. Ta. ;) Atticus
