Questions

Posted by kid47 on December 23, 2004, at 11:11:39

I was watching some comedian on TV the other night and one of his bits really sort of struck a nerve with me. I don't remember verbatim how the whole thing went but the gist of it was we need a "book of answers". Some of this joksters examples of what answers such a book might contain, were like..."the chicken came first"...."a wood chuck *can* chuck wood and at the rate of one and a half cords per hour"....."of course it makes a noise. It's a falling tree for crisakes". This whole "book of answers" idea kind of got me thinking. Wouldn't that be a marvelous book to have in your personal library? I ran this concept past a friend of mine, and she immediately started talking to me about the Bible. I must admit when it comes to the Bible, I am not particulalrly well versed(no pun intended) I have sat down at times with a Bible in my lap, opened it up and began to peruse its contents. I hope no one is offended by this, but personally I found the Bible to be a pretty tough read. The old testament was especially challenging and at times even a bit gruesome. I must admit for the most part I scarcely understood any of what I read. I think the Ten Commandments make pretty good sense, but other than that I don't *get* much of it. I am aware that there are a number of "Bibles for Dummies" out there, but I figure this would just be one more of an already countless number of interpertations, not to mention translations, and somehow what the author(s) originally had intended to impart might be totally lost or at the very least badly distorted. So I am now on a quest for this "book of answers". There has to be such a book out there somewhere....and if there isn't by golly, there sure should be. This book might even contain the wrong answers, but I'm not totally convinced that would be all that important. Just finding some type of written authority with simple answers to perplexing questions, even if this informatipon was less than accurate, might help move things along. You know, come to think of it maybe I could write such a book. Could I possibly screw things up any more than they already are? Yes, yes I could.

Peace Love and Happiness
