Goood, Cass!
Remember, in 1981, he went through a deep 8 month depression. There is a report that a family member went into his Texas bedroom to find him in his scivvies, holding a nickel-plated 357, contemplating it cradled in both hands in his lap. Within a couple of months and lotsa therapy, he met with a pentacostal minister at a local cafe. Within a couple of hours he became a born-again believer.
I'm in the recovery business and I don't see this happen, ever! Hitting bottom is never final. Most do a lot of bouncing after the first crash. I suspect parental injunctions and many, many, many hours of therapy to get off the drugs and booze before he really turned the corner.
By 1984, he was married and had a wife and 2 kids. His national guard friend, James Bath, accountant for the Bin Laden family (Utne Reader, August 2004), had set up financing for him as the oldest son of the Vice President of the United States, to run an oil company... into the ground. The business failed and GW walked away with $10 million.
All known traces of this information were strategically blacked-out or shredded by 1997, a project labeled by GHW ex-president staff as being under the shroud of national security. How clever...! How alcoholic!
GW is one of us! GW isn't well yet!

PS: some folks have unknown copies of the original documents before they were blacked-out or shredded. Hmmmmm.......
