I think their primary physician needs to know. And I want to contact the best home health care for their needs. My mother's hoarding is not only a health risk, but is interfering with my father's wheelchair access. Also, the narrow path in her area of the house between the sky high piles of stuff is absolutely filthy and has to have an impact on her recurrent toe infections that are leading to recurrent amputations. I have to pull up my pantslegs to walk in there and even so I slip slightly as I walk.
My father's bed is way too high, purchased for my mother's back but never used by her as she moved out of the room shortly thereafter. I think it contribute to the number and potential severity of his falls. She won't take it because he has trouble getting out of bed sometimes and it's soiled.
The rest of the house is a fire code hazard and my brother has to sleep on the sofa while he's there and not on active duty because of the hoarding. But I don't suppose that's a major threat.
Also my father has been informing me of my mother's driving habits, and it sounds as if her retinal bleeding is interfering with her sight.
I think they know about my father threatening to kill himself and others. (Which he won't do. He just yells.)
In other words, I think they need more than a sitter. And I want to make sure I contact the right people. So I want to tell their primary care physician. But they are going to be furious.
Any thoughts?
(I suppose I also want him to be aware that my mother might need some medication for her mental illness.)
