I think we have an instinct to remember the worst at times like this. I am indulging Harry right now beyond belief, yet when he dies, I'll bet what I remember is those few times when I was working hard at something, I was stiff from sitting down, and I shooed him away instead of picking him up. While if I try to remember *everything* I'll also remember how very well he is treated.

So be a bit easier on yourself. Your cat had a wonderful life, and if he ran away he was following instinct, not reacting to what you did.

And I'm really sorry for your loss.
