Up here in Canada, this first day of September is one which really can stir the emotions of us with depression. It means 'the end'...and I know many around the world experience it, but here in Canada, the True North, Summer goes very fast, and the melencholy of Fall lonliness weighs heavy on the heart. I've *hated* the end of Summer, I can remember this even being so since I was a little kid, and driving home from the Cottage at the end of Summer and having this empty feeling in my heart, and even a tear or two.
The End of Summer just brings up so much...like everyone is getting older...parents who you wish could be with you forever...children you wish you could hold and squeeze like little ones forever...friends you wish you would never, ever drift apart from, forever...a life you wish you could stop time whenever you wish...forever. "Some day we will wave hello...and wish we never waved goodbye."
I know..it sounds childish and all that...but it is just as true for me now as it was many years ago. Watching the tears go by...
<sigh>
