Hey everyone--
I've been hanging out on the meds board for a few weeks but have started reading over here a bit more. Sounds like you've just gone through a rough patch, so I thought I should introduce myself before jumping in to the fray.
I am 25, 2nd year grad student in math, bipolar (probably rapid cycling), diagnosed in 1998 (at age 20) on meds ever since with waxing and waning success. This fall has been rough, lots of med changes (horrible zyprexa withdrawal), some impending doctor changes, and loads of insurance problems (it's really hard to get decent insurance as a student...for example my company, and its the ONLY plan I have access to, won't pay more than $1000 for meds...do the math...that lasts me 4-5 months). My most recent mania was last spring, and I ended up out of school (though thankfully not in the hospital) for about 3 weeks.
I have a fabulous girlfriend who you may see post occassionally, screen name faroop. We've been together 2 1/2 years and are planning a wedding/commitment ceremony for May. She's great at dealing with all of the ups and downs, but I think even she got tired this fall, despite an apparent supply of boundless energy.
I may lay low for a bit until I get the lay of the land around here, but I look forward to meeting all of you.
