Klingon Interpreters needed

The Final Frontier: County Seeks Klingon Interpreter
Mental Patients Speak Language

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A human services department in Oregon is looking to hire someone who is fluent in Klingon.

That's right: the fictional language created for the "Star Trek" TV series and movies.

It turns out it is one of 55 languages needed by the office that treats mental health patients in Multnomah County, Ore.

Even though Klingon has been created for fictional works, it is designed to have a consistent grammar, syntax and vocabulary.

The county's purchasing administrator says they have encountered some mental health patients who would only speak Klingon.

As a result, county officials say they are obligated to provide a Klingon-English interpreter.
